HAMMOND – Just in time for Halloween, the Southeastern Louisiana University Alumni Association and the Division of Student Affairs are teaming up to  “Scare the Bears”  prior to the Lions taking on the University of Central Arkansas Bears in Strawberry Stadium.

Prior to the 2 p.m. kickoff, the Alumni Association is inviting area children to join them at their tailgating tent where they can decorate their own trick-or-treat bags and Halloween masks. The kids will be asked to wear their scary gear to the football game to help scare the UCA Bears.

“We’re also asking our regular tailgaters to bring with them treats for our young trick-or-treaters who will make their way through Friendship Circle prior to kickoff,” said Alumni Association Director Kathy Pittman.

The Division of Student Affairs will sponsor a student group Halloween costume contest. The group displaying the best costuming and participation at the game will win access to one of Southeastern’s party patios for the Nov. 19 River Bell Classic game against Nicholls State.
