HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University’s Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts will host a guest “junior conductor” as a featured part of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra holiday concert this Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Madison Greer will make her conducting debut for the evening’s performance of “March of the Toys” by Victor Herbert.
“Madison was chosen as one of the many contributors of ornaments to the Columbia Theatre’s Christmas tree,” said Ken Boulton, Columbia Theatre interim director.  “This is a fabulous opportunity for a young music lover to be able to lead a professional orchestra for one piece on stage.”
Greer is the daughter of Laura Moore and Matt Greer and is a third grade student at Hammond Eastside Primary, Accelerated Magnet Program.  She has participated in Missoula Children’s Theatre, Octavians Productions, “The Nutcracker,” and performances by the Magnet Program. A lover of all things music, dance and theater, according to her mother, Greer has had a special love for the orchestra since she saw “Peter and the Wolf” performed by the LPO a few years ago.
