HAMMOND -- The Louisiana Small Business Development Center (LSBDC) at Southeastern Louisiana University, along with Score counselors for small businesses, will host a comprehensive series of workshops throughout October called “The QuickSTART Series.”
Held each Tuesday of the month from 5-8 p.m. at the Southeastern St. Tammany Center on Koop Drive in Mandeville, the series consists of five, three-hour sessions designed to help potential entrepreneurs test business ideas and get started on the right path.
The ‘Start-up Basics’ introductory workshop on Oct. 5 is free, said Sandy Summers, assistant director of the Southeastern SBDC, and focuses on the basics of testing business ideas and identifying key factors that influence start-up success. The final class is scheduled Nov. 2.
“‘Start-up Basics’ provides an overview of the skills and tools needed when deciding to start a business,” said Summers. “In this session, participants will learn about the advantages and disadvantages of owning a business; the most profitable form for a business; and the fundamentals of formation, organization, marketing, cash flow and funding source. By attending this free workshop, participants will get a feel for the course and can decide if this series is right for them.”
Cost to attend all five classes in the series is $100; those who fully register before Oct. 1 will pay only $75. For more information or to pre-register, contact the LSBDC at Southeastern at 985-549-3831 or lsbdc.slu@lsbdc.org. Class info can also be found at www.lsbdc.org or www.selu.edu/sbdc.
