Workshop to highlight state incentive programs that support Louisiana businesses

     HAMMOND – Louisiana Ecomonic Development is holding two business incentives seminars on Tuesday, June 21 and Wednesday June 22. 
     The free seminars, co-sponsored with the Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southeastern Louisiana University, are scheduled from 9 a.m. – noon on both days. 
     The June 21 seminar will be held at the Livingston Parish Literacy and Technology Center, 9261 Florida Blvd. in Walker. Other sponsors of the program are the Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce and the Livingston Economic Development Council.
     The June 22 seminar will be held at Southeastern’s St. Tammany Center, 21454 Koop Dr. in Mandeville, and is offered in cooperation with the St. Tammany Economic Development Foundation.
     According to Sandy Summers, assistant director of the Southeastern SBDC, the classes are open to small business owners, certified public accountants, bankers and potential business owners interested in learning how to take advantage of the state’s financial incentives provided through Louisiana Economic Development. CPAs can earn continuing professional education credits for attending the workshops.
     “Seminar attendees will learn about program rules and application processes for Enterprise Zone, Industrial Tax Exemption, Restoration Tax Abatement, Research and Development, Small Business Loan Guaranty, Technology Commercialization and Quality Jobs,” she said.
