Tickets on sale for Southeastern's Chefs Evening

     HAMMOND – Tickets are now on sale for the 27th annual Chefs Evening set for Sunday, April 3, when more than 30 area establishments will offer guests samplings of fine cuisine and beverages.
     The event, which will also feature raffles and a silent auction, is Southeastern Louisiana University’s annual fundraiser to help support academics. Chefs Evening will be held from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Pennington Student Activity Center, located at the corner of University Avenue and General Pershing Avenue.   
     At the event, guests have the opportunity to take a chance in the raffle to win an 18 kt gold pendant featuring diamonds and yellow sapphires donated by George Ibert Jewelers. The silent auction will have something for everyone, including a limited edition George Rodrigue print, a party package from the area’s new Safari Quest, and a Southeastern Lions mailbox.
     The evening will showcase the talents of Southeastern students, including a mime, a live painting demonstration, and Southeastern’s own Jazz Combo that will perform lively music for attendees who want to try out the new Chefs Evening dance floor.
     This year’s event also includes a wine tasting area with the opportunity to try regional and international wines, as well as to purchase signature Southeastern wine glasses.
     Individual tickets are $50 and may be purchased by calling the Southeastern Development Foundation at 985-549-3770 or on-line at www.selu.edu/chefsevening. Reserved tables of six are also available. Lion Traxx shuttle buses and chauffeured golf carts will be available to transport attendees back and forth from parking areas at the Alumni Center, University Center and Teacher Education Center.
     Among the vendors participating in Chefs Evening are Acme Oyster House, Amato’s Winery, Aramark Classic Fare Catering, The Bamboo Room, Bantaa Catering, Berry Patch Cafe', The Caboose of McComb, Carter Plantation, Carona’s Bakery, Champagne Beverage Co., Chookie’s Seafood and Oyster Bar, Coca-Cola, The Cocoa Bean Bakery and Café, Crescent Bar, Crowe’s Catering, Don’s Seafood and East of Italy.
     Also participating are Eddie’s Frozen Custard, Hammond High Pro-Start, Jacmel Inn, Jim Carey Distributing Co., Lyn Haven, Northshore Technical College-Florida Parishes Campus, Pier 112, PJ’s Coffee, Rotolo’s, Sister’s Coffeehouse and Café, Tommy’s on Thomas, Trey Yuen and University Donuts.
