Southeastern Louisiana University will host Jay Dardenne as part of the College of Education’s Centennial Homecoming Speaker Series. Scheduled Oct. 16, at 6:30 p.m., the lecture, titled “Tales of Louisiana,” will take place in Southeastern’s Teacher Education Center Lecture Hall, rooms 1021 and 1022.
A prominent figure in Louisiana, Dardenne is widely recognized for his extensive career in public service. Born in Baton Rouge, he has a deep-rooted connection to the state’s culture and history. Over the years, Dardenne has served in various significant roles, including as Louisiana’s Lieutenant Governor and Commissioner of Administration.
During his time in office, Dardenne became known for his passion for sharing the unique stories of his home state. He has presented on Louisiana’s history, culture, and distinctive qualities, often transforming his popular video series “Why Louisiana Ain’t Mississippi…or Any Place Else!” into live, interactive presentations.
Dardenne’s talks are a blend of history and entertainment, designed to give audiences fresh insights into what makes Louisiana so special and to reaffirm a collective sense of pride in the state’s heritage. A lifelong resident with a profound appreciation for Louisiana, he is a natural storyteller who brings its rich and captivating history to life.
