The Southeastern Louisiana University Contemporary Art Gallery will present the first exhibition of its 2026 program. The 2026 Alumni Exhibition, a wide-ranging survey celebrating six decades of artistic production by alumni of the Visual Art + Design Department, will run from Jan. 29 through Feb. 25.

Featuring work by 40 alumni spanning graduating classes from 1965 to 2025, the exhibition highlights the enduring impact and evolving practices of Southeastern-trained artists.

Gallery Director Cristina Molina said the exhibition brings together a dynamic mix of media, including sculpture, video installation, painting and drawing, printmaking, ceramics, graphic design, and photography.

“Collectively, the works reflect both the breadth of the department’s pedagogical legacy and the diverse directions alumni have pursued in their professional practices,” she explained. “Viewers will encounter artworks rooted in personal narratives and works that expand outward to address shared concerns—engaging Louisiana’s treasured yet precarious landscape, questions of cultural memory, and pressing social realities shaping contemporary life. The exhibition offers a timely reflection on how artists respond to place, personhood, and the present moment.”

Located at 411 Ned McGehee Dr., gallery hours are Monday–Thursday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.
An opening reception will be held Thursday, Jan. 29, from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibition is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
