Health Professions Living Learning Community (LLC)

Southeastern Louisiana University

The Fall 2025 semester marks the fifth year of the cohort-based Health Professions “LLC” (or Living Learning Community), co-sponsored by the College of Nursing and Health Sciences and Southeastern University Housing. This LLC option is specifically for students interested in pursuing a health professions degree, and is designed to meet one of the college’s strategic goals regarding interprofessional education. Donor’s funds support many of the LLC activities.

The Health Professions LLC accepts a limited number of entering freshmen who have chosen a major in health and human sciences, kinesiology and health studies, or nursing. Students selected for the LLC live together on the fourth floor of Twelve Oaks Hall, the newest residence hall on campus. Those students selected for the LLC not only share a space, but also take classes together, thus the name “living learning community.”

LLC students also engage in many planned activities throughout the year, including some designed for team building, learning about the core concepts of interprofessional practice and education, and providing service to underserved members of the greater Hammond community. These activities are always designed to promote fun and opportunities to build lasting friendships and memories.
