Leah Smith received her MBA from Regis University. She teaches courses in business communication, entrepreneurship, and management, combining academic rigor with practical, real-world application. Before entering higher education, she spent 17 years in public service, managing a $17 million annual budget and leading more than 300 employees, developing expertise in leadership, operations, and organizational management.

Leah is passionate about equipping students with communication, creativity, and critical thinking skills that extend beyond the classroom. Her current research explores how students use artificial intelligence tools in coursework and their perspectives on the role of technology in higher education, providing insight into how AI is shaping academic and professional preparation.

Her professional contributions have been recognized with the Livingston Future 5 Award from the Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce, which honors young professionals making a significant impact in their community through career growth and civic engagement. In addition to teaching, Leah is an entrepreneur and owner of a skincare and lifestyle brand, and she frequently speaks at professional and community events, including international conferences, on topics connecting entrepreneurship, wellness, and conscious business practices.

Through her teaching, research, and entrepreneurial work, Leah is committed to preparing students and communities to thrive in a rapidly evolving business environment, while also actively supporting lifelong learning and initiatives for the special needs population.

Area of Expertise

Ms. Leah Smith's area of expertise includes Business communication, entrepreneurship, management, and the integration of emerging technologies (including AI) in higher education. Research interests include student usage and perspectives of AI in coursework, mindfulness in entrepreneurship, and conscious business practices.
