Yazmyn Smith, MS, CHES® is the Director of Compliance and Deputy Title IX Coordinator at Southeastern Louisiana University. She oversees student-related Title IX matters, coordinates training for faculty, staff, and students, and leads prevention and education initiatives as chair of the university's CARE Team.
In addition to her administrative role, she is an Adjunct Instructor in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Studies, teaching courses on wellness and health promotion. Her commitment to student success is reflected in her teaching, her experience as an academic advisor, and her role as a faculty advisor to campus organizations such as ELITE Women.
As a proud alum, Smith currently serves as the President of the University (Faculty/Staff) Alumni Chapter and served as the inaugural GOLD (Graduates of the Last Decade) Council Chair and Vice-President of the African American Alumni Chapter in 2018. Her service to the university extends to Southeastern Laboratory School where she is the assistant track and field coach.
She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences, a Bachelor of Arts in World Languages, and a Master of Science in Health and Kinesiology from Southeastern Louisiana University. She is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) and is completing a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Research at Louisiana State University. Her research focuses on leadership in higher education and education law and policy.
She maintains active memberships in the NASPA Student Affairs Association, the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE), the Education Law Association, National Head Start Association, and the Association of Title IX Administrators. In 2025, she was awarded the NASPA Adult Learners and Students with Children Knowledge Community Award for her research on Title IX and student-parent success. She has presented at state and national conferences and has contributed to journals such as Research in Contemporary Education and the Journal of Underrepresented and Minority Progress.
