Knowledge in the biological sciences is vast and rapidly growing. We teach students how to navigate this evolving field and contribute to new discoveries of their own.
Our department includes 32 full-time faculty, 650 undergraduate majors, and 30 graduate students. We offer both BS and MS degrees in Biology, with a graduate program known for strong faculty mentorship and impactful research opportunities.
Participation in a research lab is one of our best teaching tools. For any student that wants it, our experience can be highly immersive. Many of our faculty maintain active research labs and students can participate in research programs.
Our graduates are ready for what’s next. From medical and professional schools to advanced graduate programs and career-ready positions in biology, our students consistently stand out.
Our department features state of the art resources and teams like the Southeastern Louisiana University Vertebrate Museum, the Lake Maurepas Biomonitoring Project, and the Turtle Cove Environmental Research Station.
