Orientation Academic Advising
Welcome to the Southeastern Family!Ā Your first-year advisors are excited to meet you and we are here to guide you through your first steps to becoming a Southeastern student. Follow each of the steps below to get started on your new academic journey!
Below are the steps you will take as you navigate the orientation advising process. Once youāve reviewed the steps, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the link to get started!
Step 1: Schedule Your Advising Appointmentv
Your first step is to schedule your Orientation Advising Appointment. Your 30-45 minuteĀ individualized appointment with a professional first-year advisor will take placeĀ through Zoom. Be sure to schedule a time when you are free of distractions and haveĀ access to a laptop or computer.
Step 2: Review The Information About Your Major
Once you have scheduled your appointment, you will be taken to a page with instructionsĀ to prepare for your appointment. You will need to review the courses students in yourĀ major typically take during their first semester and consider what your first semesterĀ schedule will look like. This is also a great time to explore other majors availableĀ at Southeastern if you currently undecidedĀ or unsure of your major.
Step 3: Attend Your Virtual Advising Appointment And Schedule Your Classes
During your appointment, the advisor will:
- Get to you know you and your plans for the upcoming semester.
- Review with you your Math and English placement, previously earned credit, and other factors that may influence the courses you will schedule your first semester.
- Review the First Semester Advising Guide and recommended courses for you to schedule.Ā
- Prepare you for registration and assist you with scheduling your classes. To maximize your opportunity to schedule, be sure to join your appointment at a location where you can focus and have access to a laptop or computer.Ā
If you have already been advised and have registered but need to make changes to your schedule, emailĀ [email protected] to request to make changes. Be sure to include your name, W#, major, and the changes you would like toĀ make.
