The Energize Project
Free Computer Science Praxis Training!
The Energize Project is proud to introduce its third year! Funded by the Louisiana Department of Education, this program provides 40 hours of free training to prepare 6th- to 12th-grade Louisiana public and charter school certified teachers for the Computer Science (5652) Praxis exam. The Energize Project is a collaboration between the Louisiana Department of Education and Southeastern Louisiana University’s Department of Computer Science and College of Education. This program empowers Louisiana public and public charter school teachers of grades 6-12 to effectively bring Computer Science education to their classrooms, energizing learning experiences across the state.
2025 - 2026 Cohort Options
FULL – Online Cohort (Apply by 9/29/25)
- Dates: October 13 – December 12
- Format: Asynchronous, 8 weeks
- Capacity: 200 Participants
- Skill level: Best suited for intermediate to advanced educators and self-motivated beginners.
Virtual Cohort (Apply by 1/22/26)
- Dates: January 24 – May 17
- Format: Virtual, live sessions on Saturdays
- Schedule: Saturdays, 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
- Capacity: 60 participants
- Skill level: Our most beginner-friendly option, suited for all skill levels.
Resource Cohort (Apply by 1/5/26)
- Dates: January 24 – May 17
- Format: Resource & Teaching Assistant access
- Schedule: At your own pace
- Capacity: 100 participants
- Skill level: Access to resources for previous participants only
In Person Cohort (Apply by 5/15/26)
- Dates: June 1 – June 4, 2026
- Format: Face-to-face, intensive training at SLU
- Schedule: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM with a 45-minute lunch break
- Capacity: 30 participants
- Skill level: For experienced CS teachers. Eligibility may be based on experience level.
