Daniel Cassin has enjoyed a rewarding and varied career as teacher, performer and producer. As cellist of the Valcour String Quartet, Mr. Cassin has performed in numerous concerts, competitions, master classes and educational programs. He is currently serving as Associate Principal Cellist of the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, where he has been a member since 1982. In addition, Daniel is currently instructor of cello at the Runnels School, where he and his wife, Jennifer, were invited to develop a string program in 2005. Mr. Cassin was also cellist of the progressive jazz/fusion group Woodenhead. A graduate of the Loyola University College of Music, where he studied with Marti Kanin, Daniel began his graduate studies at the University of Arizona with cellist Gordon Epperson. He continued at the LSU Graduate School of Music under the tutelage of Thaddeus Brys, Karen Makas and Dennis Parker. Cassin continues to be active in many different performing organizations throughout the area. He is an Artist Roster Member and a former Artist Fellowship recipient for the State of Louisiana. He was twice the recipient of the American Federation of Musicians Congress of Strings award. In addition to maintaining a large private teaching studio, Daniel is also Vice President in charge of production for Centaur Records, an independent classical music label, where he has produced many recordings over the past 20 years.

Mr. Cassin joined the Southeastern faculty in the spring of 2011.
