As we approach the end of the Fall Semester and the end of 2020, I find myself reflecting on what an unusual and challenging period this has been. Almost nothing has seemed normal since the beginning of the pandemic. Virtually everything we do as an institution was different for much of this year, but the one thing that has not been different is the resiliency and spirit of the Southeastern family.

Apparently, the Louisiana Legislature had been counting on the often-heard idiom, "Third time's the charm." In this year's third special session which ended Sunday, the Legislature finally agreed to a solution that allows the state to avert the July 1 fiscal cliff that was rapidly approaching.Budget Update

Following a somewhat ignominious June 8 end to the Regular Legislative Session and the associated failure to adopt a State budget, the Louisiana Legislature accomplished the necessary task this past week in a brief special session that ended on June 16, 2017.
