We should be back in the office in Tinsley Hall Room 102 after the Winter Break, on January 3, 2024. Should you need to contact us, please email us at accessibilityservices@selu.edu . Mission Statement
The Office of Student Accessibility Services facilitates the process of academic accommodations
for students with disabilities and works in collaboration with other University departments
in an attempt to ensure full participation in all activities, programs, and services
of the University.
In accordance with applicable law and University policy, Southeastern Louisiana University
ensures equal opportunity for all qualified students with disabilities, without regard
to disability, in the programs and services provided by the University.
A person with a disability is any person with a physical or mental impairment, which
substantially limits one or more major life activities. Disabilities include but are
not limited to physical disabilities, blind or visual impairment, deaf or hearing
impairment, psychological disorders, learning disabilities, and ADHD.
Appropriate accommodations enable a student with a disability to compete equally with
his/her non-disabled peers but are not intended to place a disabled student at an
academic advantage.
ACCOMMODATE Portal
Student Accessibility Services (SAS) at Southeastern Louisiana University now uses Accommodate, an online portal, to manage student accommodation requests. This system helps ensure that students with disabilities receive reasonable accommodations and services. Students and faculty can access Accommodate to manage accommodations, obtain accommodation letters, electronically “sign” accommodation letters, and complete other accommodation-related processes.
Students
Are you NEW to SAS?
If so, all NEW students must first register with SAS by accessing and completing the NEW STUDENT Intake Form.
Are You A Returning SAS Student?
Complete this form once you have attended ALL of your classes and have FINALIZED your class schedule for the semester.
If you are a returning student to Southeastern who have registered with Student Accessibility Services previously, you will now be using Accommodate to manage your accommodations. You will use Accommodate to:
- Submit Accommodation Requests each semester to send accommodation letters to your instructors
- Sign your accommodation letters
- Upload any further supporting documentation if needed
For more information on how to best use Accommodate, please view the Student How-To Guide.
Faculty
Accommodate is a tool that enables Student Accessibility Services to more efficiently manage accommodation requests and implementation for all. This online tool features both students and faculty portals, and allows Student Accessibility Services functional oversight. Accommodate will be your "one stop shop" for the accommodations process. You will use Accommodate to:
- Log in to view and electronically “sign” accommodation letters. No longer will you need to manage a pdf document.
- Easily view the students with accommodations in your courses, and help better manage this process for you.
For more information on how to best use Accommodate for Faculty, please view the Faculty How-To Guide.
