Steps to Apply
Step 1: Apply to Southeastern
You must apply and be accepted into Southeastern, before you can apply for Financial Aid.
Step 2: Complete the FAFSA Each Academic Year
You must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form for each academic year that you would like to receive aid. Forms for the following year are made available beginning October 1. To increase your chances of being considered for programs with limited funds, complete the FAFSA as soon after October 1 as possible. Southeastern's financial aid process begins with the fall term. Southeastern's Federal School Code: 002024
Once the FAFSA has been completed, you will need to verify your financial aid application is complete by providing additional information or documentation. All requested verification documents must be completed before being awarded a financial aid package. It is imperative to respond quickly to any requests for additional information.
The FAFSA is processed by the Central Processing System (CPS) and generates a printed Student Aid Report (SAR). The following are some helpful hints to ensure you have a valid SAR:
- Review the SAR for accuracy
- If corrections are required revisit the FAFSA website and select "make corrections to a processed FAFSA"
- If you do not receive an email directing you to your SAR within four weeks of completing your FAFSA, contact the CPS at 1-800-433-3243 to check the status of your application
Step 3: Complete Verification
Federal verification is a process which requires institutions to verify the accuracy of the information provided on the FAFSA of randomly selected applicants in an effort to ensure federal aid is distributed to those who are eligible. If your FAFSA is selected for verification by the U.S. Department of Education, you are required to provide documentation to the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships in order to verify the information provided on the FAFSA.
