Maintaining Academic Scholarships

New Freshman Scholarships

The Southeastern Honors Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded for eight consecutive semesters as long as the retention requirements below are met: 

• You must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
• You must be continuously enrolled full-time each semester (at least 12 hours).
• You must attempt and pass at least 30 credit hours per academic year. The academic year includes the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. Advanced Placement (AP), CLEP, and/or dual enrollment courses are not applicable to the 30 hour requirement. 

Housing supplements are only available to students who continuously live on campus beginning with their first semester of enrollment. This scholarship applies to all residence halls, as well as Southeastern Oaks and The Village.

Transfer Scholarships

The scholarships below are awarded for seven consecutive semesters or until you complete your undergraduate degree, whichever comes first provided the retention requirements below are met.

The Southeastern Transfer Honors Scholarship and The Senator Ben Nevers Transfer Scholarship

• You must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
• You must be continuously enrolled full-time each semester (minimum 12 hours).
• You must attempt and pass no less than 24 hours per academic year. The academic year includes the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. 

Transfer Scholarship for Students with an Associates Degree

Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society Golden Opportunity Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded for two consecutive years or completion of a bachelor’s degree whichever occurs first as long as the retention requirements below are met: 

• You must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
• You must be continuously enrolled full-time each semester (at least 12 hours).
• You must attempt and pass at least 30 credit hours per academic year. The academic year includes the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. 

Students may use this scholarship during the summer semester if they are enrolled full-time (at least 6 hours). Please notify the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships by emailing [email protected].

Scholarship Retention Check

Fall Scholarship Retention Check

Students who do not meet the GPA requirement at the end of the fall semester will be notified by December 20 each year, and their scholarship(s) will be canceled for the following spring semester. Students who experienced extenuating circumstances that impacted their academic performance may submit a Scholarship Appeal.

Spring Scholarship Retention Check

Students who do not meet the GPA and/or yearly credit requirement at the end of the spring semester will be notified before May 20 each year, and their scholarship(s) will be canceled for the following academic year. Students enrolled in summer courses will be reevaluated after summer grades are posted and may have their scholarship(s) reinstated if all requirements are met.

Students who do not plan to take summer classes and experienced extenuating circumstances that impacted their academic performance may submit a Scholarship Appeal.
