Message from the President

August 16, 2017

Welcome!

We officially kicked off the new academic year at last Friday's Convocation.  I appreciate the attendance of all those who came out to help celebrate the many honorees, enjoy a delicious lunch and start the new year with lots of positive energy.

The fall semester is off to a great start with classes beginning today.  Please remember that there will be many new people on campus, some for the first time.  Let's all work together to make sure our new students, faculty and staff are introduced to the friendly, caring atmosphere of the Southeastern family.

Please also keep in mind that there are several major construction projects underway on campus.  The new facilities and campus improvements will be wonderful when finished, but there will understandably be some occasional inconveniences.

Some changes in parking have been necessary, and while there are approximately the same number of parking spaces relative to registered vehicles as last year, in several instances the changes will mean that people will need to park in a location different from where they have become accustomed to parking.  Every effort has been made to communicate the changes and to make other compensating adjustments, such as additional shuttles.   I ask that everyone be patient while new traffic and parking patterns are sorted out over the next couple of weeks.

I am very excited about a renewed sense of positive energy on campus.  We have much for which we can be thankful and many great opportunities ahead.  I hope everyone has an enjoyable and productive semester, and I look forward to seeing everyone around campus.

John L. Crain
President
