Strategic Planning Update

In my prior strategic planning update, I indicated the next step would involve an environmental scanning process to identify institutional strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Additional details regarding these four "SWOT" environmental scanning elements can be found here: http://www.southeastern.edu/resources/assets/swot.pdf.

In order to ensure that all members of our faculty and staff have the opportunity to participate in this aspect of the planning process, the following multiple avenues will be utilized to solicit campus input. Please keep in mind that input from students and community constituents, including alumni, will be solicited through other venues.

Focus Group Forums

Five face-to-face focus group forums will be held on the following dates and times:

Monday, Nov. 13, 11:00 - 12:15, Student Union Annex 2207
Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2:00 - 3:15, Student Union Annex 2207
Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2:00 - 3:15, Student Union Annex 2207
Thursday, Nov. 16, 9:30 - 10:45, Student Union Annex 2207
Friday, Nov. 17, 9:30 - 10:45, Alumni Center

In order to ensure the opportunity for dialogue-based interaction, each of these focus groups will be limited to 40 participants. If you would like to participate in one of these forums, please indicate your interest here https://moodle.selu.edu/moodle/mod/choice/view.php?id=1289170

Some departments or units may wish to develop a set of consensus "SWOT" responses and designate one representative to convey these at one of the forums. If it becomes clear that additional interest exists in face-to-face meetings, more focus groups will be scheduled.

Web Form

Individuals wishing to provide input into the environmental scanning process but not able to participate in one of the face-to-face forums may submit information using this form https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/5C9D2R2.

Campus Survey

In addition to these opportunities for individuals to engage in the environmental scanning process, the Office of Institutional Research will develop a web-based campus survey that will be made available to all faculty and staff. More information on this survey will be forthcoming.

All of the campus feedback received through these avenues will be compiled and provided to the University Planning Council as it works to develop our next strategic plan.
