Message from the President

August 14, 2018

In order to comply with State rules, Southeastern has a Data Sanitization policy that requires removal of sensitive data from computers, printers and other devices with electronic storage when such devices are removed from service.

Many of these devices obtained through university purchasing are properly tagged and accounted for in the university's inventory which helps appropriate staff ensure data sanitization is occurring in compliance with university policy and State requirements.

As a result of how they were acquired or because the acquisition cost was below a certain threshold, some of these devices in use on campus have not been tagged and are not accounted for in the university's inventory.

In order to help ensure data sanitization will occur as required, it is important that all such devices be identified and accounted for.

I am asking each division head to work with the Office of Technology to identify all applicable devices within the respective divisions.
