Strategic Planning Update

January 30, 2019

This past fall, two subcommittees of the University Planning Council were formed following preliminary work by the Council toward creation of Vision 2025, our new university strategic plan. As you will recall, a Planning Portal was created to allow the entire campus community to follow and participate in the strategic planning process.

The first subcommittee was charged with developing and recommending a set of strategic priorities to be included in Vision 2025. Their work included refining the strategic themes previously identified by the Planning Council, as well as considering which, if any, of the strategic priorities from Vision 2017 should carry over to Vision 2025.

The second subcommittee was charged with developing and recommending a set of student success measures that will serve as goals within the Vision 2025 Strategic Plan.

The membership of both subcommittees is posted on the Planning Portal, along with all of the prior work material of the University Planning Council.

Over the last several months, members of the subcommittees have worked diligently to complete their assignments. In a few weeks, the full Planning Council will meet to receive and discuss the reports from the subcommittees. These reports have also been posted to the Planning Portal for review by the campus community. I encourage anyone with comments or feedback about either subcommittee’s recommendations to share these with your department or division representative on the Planning Council. As a reminder, the names of members of the Planning Council are also posted on the Planning Portal.

The strategic planning process and work of the Planning Council will guide our focus and campus initiatives for the next several years. As a result, the work of the Council is extremely important for our institution, students, faculty, staff, alumni and community. I look forward to continuing this important work and will strive to keep the campus informed and involved in the process.
