COVID-19 Update - Events & Activities

Yesterday our semester significantly changed as a number of measures affecting campus and classes were announced.  I know these changes represent disruptions in our normal operations and are a source of concern and confusion for many of you. 

Please rest assured that we are doing everything possible to minimize disruptions; however, the health and well-being of the Southeastern family guides our decisions at every step.  We also are committed to doing everything possible to ensure students have the opportunity to successfully complete their coursework this spring.

As previously communicated, all of the announced operational changes are effective until further notice.  I know you join me in hoping that campus life – and life in general – will return to normal as soon as possible.  While we will continue to evaluate developments on a daily basis and will roll back operational changes at the earliest feasible time, everyone should plan for the possibility that current measures affecting classes and other campus activities will continue through the end of the semester. 

Today’s updates are as follows:

• Activities directly related to academic courses will be determined by faculty in conjunction with academic departments and colleges.  Specific details and plans for each course will be communicated directly with students by 5:00 p.m. Monday, March 16.
• All other campus events and activities previously scheduled through April 13, are cancelled. 
• All Study Abroad programs for this academic year are cancelled.
• All university-sponsored travel is cancelled.

As the situation with COVID-19 continues to evolve, and developments likely will occur daily, there will continue to be many questions.  In order to help provide answers as quickly as possible, we will continue to send regular email updates to the campus community.  We also are working to post on the Southeastern Coronavirus website a series of FAQs that will be updated frequently.
