Campus COVID Update

May 7, 2021

I know that everyone joins me in anticipating the return to in-person campus operations for the upcoming Fall Semester with traditional in-person instruction, normal classroom capacities, and a full slate of on-campus student engagement opportunities. The widespread availability of highly effective COVID-19 vaccines will facilitate the in-person experiences and interactions we have all wished to resume.

Southeastern is fortunate to have been one of the first universities in Louisiana to gain access to the COVID-19 vaccine, and to date, almost four thousand doses of the Pfizer vaccine have been safely administered to faculty, staff, and students.  I am extremely grateful to the Louisiana Department of Health and our outstanding nursing faculty, staff, and students for making the vaccine widely available to members of our campus community.

For those who may have not yet received the vaccine, I encourage you to pursue vaccination as soon as possible.  Information about on-campus vaccination opportunities will continue to be shared with the campus community.

For faculty/staff with COVID-19 related accommodations due to comorbid medical conditions or for those who have household members with such, access to the vaccine will replace current accommodations which will expire at the end of the Spring Semester on May 23.

I hope that everyone has a successful end to the Spring Semester, and I look forward to seeing everyone on campus in the fall.
