2021-2022 Raise Plan for Faculty and Staff

July 14, 2021

I am pleased to report that through the support of Governor John Bel Edwards, the Louisiana Legislature, and University of Louisiana System leadership, Southeastern will implement a 2021-2022 raise plan for faculty and staff.

Funds to provide raises for classified staff in accordance with civil service rules were included in the recently approved state budget.   Accordingly, these employees’ raises will be implemented effective July 15, 2021.

Funds to help support 2 ½ % average raises for faculty were included in the recently approved state budget.  Although not funded by the State, the University will provide 2 ½ % average raises for unclassified staff as well.  All final salary adjustments for faculty and unclassified staff are subject to approval by the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors.

Individual faculty raises will be recommended by department heads, subject to review and approval by the relevant dean and the Provost.  Faculty raises will be effective with the beginning of the Fall Semester and reflected in the August paycheck.  Unclassified staff raises will be recommended by budget unit heads with review and approval by the relevant vice president.  These raises will be effective retroactive to July 3, 2021, and will be reflected in the September 3 paycheck.

Unit heads are directed to ensure broad participation in the raise plan and consideration of merit since the last merit raises.  Other considerations may include salary compression and distance from relevant CUPA averages.

Eligibility for the faculty and unclassified staff raise plan is limited to those who were employed by the University as of July 1, 2021, and remain employed at the date of implementation.
