Dr. Claire Procopio
2021 L.E. Chandler Award Recipient
Dr. Claire Procopio is Professor of Communication at Southeastern and Director of
the Honors Program. She teaches courses in research methods, political campaigning,
interpersonal and organizational communication, and public speaking. But she does
so much more to cultivate our students. She serves as faculty advisor to the Honors
Student Association. She is credited with creating both the Honors Ambassadors Program
and the Honors Mentoring Program, as well as launching Southeastern’s first Living
Learning Community — an honors residence hall with three sub-communities centered
on leadership development, health sciences, and art appreciation where students build
communities with similar interests.
Dr. Procopio serves on many university committees that serve our students, including
the Homecoming Committee, and organizes the Phi Kappa Phi Quiz Bowl and the Honors
Recognition Ceremony and the Communication Colloquium. She has also received numerous
awards, including the prestigious President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.
