2010 Distinguished Alumnus: Jimmy Kuhn
James E. “Jimmy” Kuhn. is a judge on the Louisiana first circuit court of appeals.
A native of Ponchatoula, he is a 1968 graduate of Southeastern. He served in the Army
National Guard, and attended the Army War College National Security Seminar. After
completing his legal education at Loyola University School of Law. he began his legal
career. While at Loyal, he won the prestigious American Jurisprudence Award.
Judge Kuhn served as an assistant district attorney and then on the 21st Judicial
District Court prior to his current position. He was then elected to the court of
appeals and is now serving his second term. He has been an active alumnus of Sigma
Tau Gamma fraternity for over 40 years. He is very active in the Southeastern Alumni
Association and the Ponchatoula chapter. He serves as a member of Southeastern’s
Foundation’s Board of Directors. He also is an avid supporter of the U.S. War College
that brings outstanding military professionals to Southeastern’s campus each year.
