2008 Distinguished Alumnus: Lisa G. Johnson
Dr. Johnson received her Master of Arts degree from Southeastern Louisiana University
in 1997. She previously graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the Mississippi
University for Women, and later earned her Ph.D. from Louisiana State University in
2006. She serves as Assistant Professor and Coordinator for Fitness Studies Concentration
and Health Studies Minor at Louisiana State University. She served Iberia and Point
Coupee Parish schools for 10 years, teaching health, physical education and social
studies.
Dr. Johnson has published 13 research articles in peer-reviewed journals and has 22
national and international presentations to her credit. Her thesis project, “Effects
of estrogen replacement therapy on DHEA, DHEAS, and cortisol responses to exercise
in women,” was published in the prestigious journal, Fertility and Sterility. It was an important study that is consistently cited and earmarked for review in
the Yearbook of Sports Medicine.
She holds membership in various state and national professional organizations, including
the American Association for Health Education, the American College of Sports Medicine,
and the American Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.
She currently serves as President of the Board of Directors for the Louisiana Association
Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance.
