Department of Health and Human Sciences

We offer undergraduate programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Human Development and Family Science, Health Systems Administration and Social Work. We also have graduate programs in Child Life, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Counseling, Population Health Management, and Social Work. The goal of our highly talented faculty is to help you grow personally and professionally in careers that support the health and wellness of others in the community.

Department Highlights

  • Hands-on learning is emphasized through internships, service learning and clinical practicums

  • Students in the Communication Sciences & Disorders program operate a community Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic on campus.

  • The social work program has partnered with the Department of Child & Family Services to manage the operation of the Louisiana Child Welfare Training Academy.

Southeastern Announces Academic Organizational Alignment

In order to further position itself for long-term growth and academic excellence and to more closely align with Louisiana’s economic development goals, Southeastern Louisiana University has created a strategic organizational alignment that will take effect in fall 2026, university officials announced. The changes were created after a series of discussions over several months with university deans, department heads, and faculty members.
