Dual Language

The dual language concentration offers students the opportunity to specialize in two of the languages offered by the department (French, Spanish, German, Italian, Latin).  Students who choose this concentration will develop proficiency in two languages as well as acquire cultural knowledge of more than one language area. The Dual Language concentration in the Bachelor of Arts in World Languages requires students to take 16 hours of common core courses, 24 hours in a first language and 21 hours in a second language.

French

For students wishing to pursuit careers where the usage of the French language and Francophone cultural knowledge is needed, the Department offers a concentration in French in which students will take introductory, intermediate, and advanced course work in French. Such courses include French 101, 102, 201, 202 and various advanced courses such as Francophone Civilization and Culture, Advanced French Grammar, Advanced French Phonetics, French for Business and International Trade and much more!

French Education

For students wishing to become a certified teacher of French, the Department offers a concentration in French Education in which students will take introductory, intermediate, and advanced course work in French a long with courses offered in the Department of Teaching and Learning. Such courses include French 101, 102, 201, 202, various advanced courses such as Francophone Civilization and Culture, Advanced French Grammar, Advanced French Phonetics, Foreign Language Methodology, Classroom Management, Tests and Measurements, Student Teaching, and much more!

Spanish

For students wishing to pursuit careers where the usage of the Spanish language and Hispanic cultural knowledge is needed, the Department offers a concentration in Spanish in which students will take introductory, intermediate, and advanced course work in Spanish. Such courses include Spanish 101, 102, 201, 202 and various advanced courses such as Hispanic Civilization and Culture, Advanced Spanish Grammar, Advanced Spanish Phonetics, Spanish for Business and International Trade and much more!

Undergraduate Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Others Languages (TESOL)

For students wishing to teach English to Speakers of Other Languages or work in professional settings that require a knowledge of individuals from different cultures and linguistic backgrounds, the Department offers an Undergraduate Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) in which students will take course work in World Languages along with courses offered in the departments of Communication and Media Studies and English. Such courses include Teaching Methods in TESOL, Internship in the TESOL Classroom, Intercultural Communication, Communicating in the Classroom, Advanced English Grammar, and Introduction to Linguistics!
