Department of English and World LanguagesAlison Pelegrin (MFA, University of Arkansas, Fayetteville) is Writer-in-Residence and instructor in the Department of English and World Languages. She is the author of five poetry collections, most recently Waterlines (2016) and Our Lady of Bewilderment (2022), both with LSU Press. Ms. Pelegrin routinely publishes work in notable literary journals, and, in 2025, was anthologized in Best American Poetry. Other accolades include her appointment as 2023–2025 Louisiana Poet Laureate, recognition and support of her creative work in the form of an ATLAS Grant from the Louisiana Board of Regents, a $20,000 Creative Writing Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, and a $50,000 Poet Laureate Fellowship fellowship from the Academy of American Poets to support her work bringing poetry workshops into Louisiana prisons and communities.
Creative Writing, Poetry, the Form and Theory of Poetry, Creative Writing Pedagogy, and Creativity Studies. Alison teaches literature honors and creative writing classes on a variety of topics.
