Dr. Anne-Liese Juge Fox is a theatre graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and the École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris. She holds a Ph.D. in Theatre History, Literature, and Criticism from L.S.U. Fox has performed professionally on stage and screen internationally. She was an original collaborator with Lisa D’Amour and ArtSpot Productions on the Obie Award–winning Nita & Zita, and co-wrote and toured nationally with Swimming Upstream with Eve Ensler. Her directing credits include Molière’s The Imaginary Invalid for the New Orleans Shakespeare Festival. A published theatre and performance scholar, including work in TDR: The Drama Review, Fox founded and directed the improvisation ensemble NOLA Playback Theatre following the Hurricane Katrina levee-break disaster. Fox teaches performance and theatre history classes with a speciality in mask improvisation.
Fox’s work spans new-play development, community-based applied theatre, devised and improvisational performance. She actively translates and adapts classic plays and, through her role as co-coordinator of Southeastern’s Inkslinger Playwriting Contest, has directed multiple world-premiere productions.
