Wright is an Associate Professor of Biological Sciences (currently on leave to the National Science Foundation). She obtained her PhD from the University of Texas at Austin in Integrative Biology, and her BA in Biology from St. Olaf College. Her area of research is statistical phylogenetics and the fossil record. This research, predominantly funded by the NSF and the National Institutes of Health, touches on computation, statistics, biology, and paleontology.
Teaching Focus: Dr. Wright teaches introductory biology (second semester), Biological Data Analysis, and Applied Systematics (graduate level; also author of the course textbook).
Key Accomplishments: Dr. Wright was awarded a prestigious NSF CAREER award in 2020. She has also authored an article for the Annual Reviews series.
