Brina Bourliea Faciane serves as Director of Southeastern’s Bill Evans Jazz Festival and instructor of saxophone in the Department of Music and Performing Arts. She is the baritone saxophonist for the professional chamber group, Quartetto Obrigado. A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, she has presented recitals and performances internationally, including appearances in the United States, Canada, Italy, Cyprus, and France, as well as a performance at the 18th World Saxophone Congress in Zagreb, Croatia, with Quartetto Obrigado.

A dedicated advocate for contemporary music, Ms. Faciane commissions new works through the Smart Repertoire Project and is a member of the Versipel New Music Collective. Her performance portfolio includes collaborations on projects featuring saxophone quartet and choir, as well as works by celebrated composers Tõnu Kõrvits, Ben Stonaker, Phillip Schuessler, and Martin Bresnick.

Ms. Faciane is a National Arts Associate of Sigma Alpha Iota and was the recipient of the 2022-2023 National Advisor Award. She holds a faculty advisor position for the Mu Rho Chapter at Southeastern Louisiana University. Professionally, she is a member of the North American Saxophone Alliance and Louisiana Association of Jazz Educators.

Prior to her appointment at Southeastern Louisiana University, she instructed in the St. Tammany Parish Talented Arts Program. At Southeastern, her teaching responsibilities encompass Saxophone, Chamber Music, Fundamentals of Theory, and Introduction to Music. Ms. Faciane earned degrees from Arizona State University and Louisiana State University. She maintains a private studio, where her high school students consistently achieve top rankings in the Louisiana Music Educators Association’s District Bands, All-State Bands, and All-State Jazz Ensembles.
