Dr. Dan Hollander is a Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Studies within the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Southeastern Louisiana University. He is also a Kenelly Family Endowed Professor, a distinction he has held at different times to support his research. His primary areas of expertise are Sport and Exercise Psychology and Strength and Conditioning.
Dr. Hollander earned his Ed.D. in Sport Psychology with a minor in Counseling from West Virginia University, an M.S. in Kinesiology from Kansas State University, and a B.A. in Psychology and Human Performance from The Metropolitan State College of Denver. In addition to his full-time professorship at Southeastern Louisiana University since 1999, he has held adjunct instructor roles at Tulane University and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He also serves as a Co-Owner and consultant for Hollander Counseling & Consulting, LLC.
His research and work have led to a number of significant contributions, including serving as a Senior Associate Editor for the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research and publishing numerous peer-reviewed manuscripts and presentations. The research for his Kenelly Family Endowed Professorships has included studying physical and mental exertion in local firefighters and investigating physical activity and nutrition patterns in elementary school children. His pedagogical experience includes creating courses like "Strength Programming and Conditioning" and developing online courses on topics such as "Mind Body Health" and "Wellness Coaching".
