Erin Moore Cowser is an instructor of the Introduction to Public Speaking course. She has served previously as Chief Policy Advisor and Communications Director for the Louisiana State Treasurer, as Assistant Commissioner of Legislative and External Affairs at the Louisiana Board of Regents and as Southeastern Louisiana University’s Executive Director of Public and Governmental Affairs.
She currently serves as chair of the Northshore Louisiana United Way Leadership Council, Communications Co-Chair for the St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee and as a member of the Girl Scouts Louisiana East Board of Directors. Past Board service includes the New Orleans Regional Leadership Institute Board of Directors, the Conference of Louisiana Colleges and Universities, the Louisiana Children’s Discovery Center Board, First Presbyterian Church of Hammond Diaconate and the national Task Force on Higher Education Government Relations for AASCU. She is a founding member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Northshore
Alumnae Chapter.
She has received accolades for her work in advocacy and community service including the national Edwin Crawford Award for Innovation presented by AASCU, APLU and CASE, as well as the Greater Hammond Chamber Chairman’s Award and Frances Chauvin Volunteer of the Year Award. She has been tapped as one of Inside Publications’ Influential Women in Business and was named a Woman of the Year honoree by New Orleans CityBusiness.
A graduate of Leadership St. Tammany and NORLI, she earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from LSU and a master’s in organizational communication from Southeastern. She is currently working on her doctorate in Educational Leadership at Southeastern. She is author of SLU’s first-ever children’s book, “Let’s Lion Up With Roomie.” Most importantly, she has the esteemed privilege and honor of being 15-year-old Eliza Kate’s mom.
