Evelyn J. Del Rio is an instructor in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Studies at Southeastern Louisiana University, where she has taught since 2007. Over her career, she has combined more than two decades of teaching, nursing, and community health outreach experience, serving in roles that span higher education, clinical practice, and public health initiatives. At Southeastern, Del Rio has coordinated the Health Studies program, advised students, and developed courses across health promotion, medical law and ethics, healthcare delivery, and emergency healthcare. Her professional background also includes service as a registered nurse, health program coordinator, and advocate for underserved populations through migrant education and farmworker health initiatives. She is actively engaged in student success, faculty development, and community wellness through grants, outreach programs, and committee leadership.
Her formal education includes a Master of Arts in Health Studies (1997) and a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing with a minor in Management (1994), both from Southeastern Louisiana University,
as well as an Associate of Science in Nursing (2007) from Delgado Community College. She is also a licensed registered nurse and certified instructor in CPR, AED, and emergency health
response.
