Florence Wen is an instructor of biology specializing in ecology and physiology, particularly of herpetofauna. Her research currently focuses on the stress physiology of musk turtles in urban versus natural environments. Before joining the faculty, Florence studied at Southeastern Louisiana University for her Master’s degree. Her thesis focused on studying the effects of temperature on the sex ratios and morphology of hatchling olive ridley sea turtles in Costa Rica. This research has been presented in national conferences and was recently published in a scientific journal. Currently, Florence mainly teaches introductory biology and human anatomy & physiology classes. Florence is also the faculty advisor of the Biology Graduate Student Organization (BGSO) and the SLU Pickleball Club.
