Jamie Magee, MSW, serves as the BSW Program Director and is an instructor in the Department of Health and Human Sciences. She earned her Master of Social Work from Tulane University. Ms. Magee is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Board Approved Clinical Supervisor. With extensive clinical experience across multiple practice areas, including schools, medical settings, and community social services, Ms. Magee brings an interdisciplinary approach to her work. She has deployed individual, family, group, and play therapy modalities, helping clients navigate life transitions and challenges, while integrating trauma-informed and strengths-based frameworks into her practice. Ms. Magee specialized in supporting children, particularly those in foster care, who experienced sexual trauma, and testified as an expert witness throughout the Florida Parishes.
Since 2005, Ms. Magee has taught a range of social work courses, from Introduction to the Social Work Profession to Macro Practice, initially as a lecturer and then transitioning to full-time faculty in 2012. She now primarily instructs skills-based undergraduate courses such as Family and Groups, Case Management, and Mental Health across the Lifespan, and theoretical courses such as Human Behavior in the Social Environment I & II, drawing upon her clinical experience across school, medical, and community settings to enrich her teaching with a real-world perspective. Ms. Magee also coordinates training under the HRSA-funded Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training (BHWET) initiative, expanding educational access and workforce strength in rural Southeast Louisiana.
