Department of Sociology and Criminal JusticeKatie Patton is the Dual Enrollment Coordinator and Instructor of Sociology at Southeastern Louisiana University. She holds a B.A. in Psychology and an M.S. in Applied Sociology with a concentration in Criminal Justice from Southeastern Louisiana University, and a Post-Graduate Certification in Global Security and Intelligence from Northwestern State University. She is currently a doctoral student, ABD (all but dissertation), in Sociology with a concentration in Criminology at Louisiana State University.
Notable accomplishments include her master's thesis earning Top 25 status in "Most-Accessed Master's Thesis in ProQuest" across three distinct months. She has also been awarded various OER (Open Educational Resources) grants with LOUIS: The Louisiana Library Network, demonstrating her commitment to innovative educational practices and her dedication to making quality education accessible and affordable for all students.
Ms. Patton's research interests focus on criminology with an emphasis on death penalty studies, public opinion research, and dimensions of homicide. Her Sociological interests include deviance, culture, and race relations
