Department of Sociology and Criminal JusticeDr. Kellen Gilbert is a professor of anthropology in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice. She earned a Ph.D. in Anthropology from Rutgers University. Her research focuses on biodiversity conservation, human-wildlife co-existence, and the effects of climate change on culture. Currently she is part of a project investigating the role of traditional ecological knowledge to mitigate human-wildlife conflict in northern Namibia. The only full-time anthropologist on the Southeastern faculty, Dr. Gilbert teaches Cultural Anthropology, Introduction to Physical Anthropology, Culture and the Environment, and other electives.
