Dr. Lauren Doughty is a medieval historian specializing in 10th- and 11th-century Anglo-Scandinavian England, with particular focus on royal authority, gender, and integration politics. She earned her Ph.D. in History from Louisiana State University in 2017, where her dissertation explored the expansion of royal power through Scandinavian accommodation and integration in Anglo-Saxon England.

She currently serves as a full-time Instructor at Southeastern Louisiana University. Over nearly two decades of teaching, Dr. Doughty has taught a wide range of courses in medieval, world, and American history across several institutions, both in-person and online.

Her research interests include early kingship, medieval women, gender and law, and the political use of propaganda. She has presented widely at international and national conferences, including the International Congress on Medieval Studies and the Organization of American Historians, and has chaired panels on medieval gender and female rulership.

Beyond teaching and scholarship, Dr. Doughty is actively involved in academic service. She serves as Director of the Region VIII Social Studies Fair and SACS Coordinator at Southeastern, and is a dedicated mentor and advisor for undergraduate and graduate students pursuing history and social studies education.
