Parker, CCC-SLP, is an assistant professor in the Communication Sciences and Disorders program within the department of Health and Human Sciences. She earned her PhD from Louisiana State University and previously worked as a medical speech-language pathologist, treating patients with voice, swallowing, and upper airway disorders. Dr. Parker’s research focuses on the clinical assessment of voice disorders, with particular attention to the reliability and validity of diagnostic measures, including auditory-perceptual judgments of dysphonia. She also investigates how social media shapes patient education and online health information-seeking behaviors. In the CSD program, she teaches graduate courses on voice disorders and dysphagia, as well as undergraduate courses such as acoustics and speech science.
