Louis “Boog” Dugas is an instructor in the field of kinesiology and athletic coaching, with a strong background in both academic instruction and hands-on coaching roles. In this role, he has taught a wide range of courses, including Measurement and Evaluation, Secondary Methods, Motor Development, History of Sport and Physical Education, and the Theories and Practice of various sports like racket games, baseball, volleyball, and football, Foundations of coaching, Coaching baseball/softball, and Coaching football. Beyond the classroom, he has been involved in significant departmental service, including his current role as Program Coordinator for Health & Physical Education and as an advisor for the athletic coaching minor.

Area of Expertise

Dugas has an extensive coaching career spanning over two decades. His experience includes roles as a Head Baseball Coach at Maurepas High School and Hammond High School, and as an Assistant Head Baseball Coach at several schools, including Springfield High School, Albany High School, and Pearl River High School. His coaching expertise isn't limited to baseball; he has also coached cross-country, softball, volleyball, football, and basketball. In 2025, he was honored with two awards: Livingston Parish Coach of the Year and District 7-C Coach of the Year for baseball. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the Louisiana Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (LAHPERD), the Louisiana High School Coaches Association (LHSCA), the Louisiana Baseball Coaches Association (LBCA), and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).
