As an Instructor in the Department of Health and Human Sciences, Maggie Tenhundfeld brings her expertise in human development to the classroom. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences and a Master of Science in Child Life, both earned at Southeastern Louisiana University. Her teaching philosophy centers on helping students understand the complexities of the human lifespan through courses like Infant Development, Adolescent Development, Lifespan Development, and Research in the Human Sciences. Her research explores the significant impact of stress on human development.
Through teaching, she can apply the principles of human development to support children and families facing significant life challenges, her broad understanding of how people grow and change is specialized by a master's degree in Child Life, which focuses on providing therapeutic interventions—such as play and education—to help children cope with stress, illness, and trauma. In combination, this makes her an expert in the theoretical foundations of human growth and the practical application of that knowledge to educate students on how to promote well-being in vulnerable populations.
