Dr. Margaret Westmoreland is an Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership and Foundations within the College of Education. Her research focuses on the dual roles of professions within the education system, particularly that of the high school football coach who also teaches academic classes. Before joining the Southeastern faculty, she worked in public education for 26 years, 16 of those as a high school English teacher, where she was the 2013 finalist for Louisiana Teacher of the Year. Her most recent position was high school assistant principal.
Her areas of expertise include instructional leadership, curriculum design, classroom instruction, and differentiated professional development. These areas reflect a commitment to fostering effective teaching practices and supporting educator growth to improve student outcomes.
