Shannon May is an undergraduate instructor and clinical educator in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Southeastern Louisiana University. She earned her Master of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2011 and joined the faculty in 2024. Prior to her academic role, she provided speech-language services to Pre-K through 5th-grade students in the Livingston Parish Public School System and worked in a pediatric private practice in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Currently, she teaches the undergraduate Introduction to Communication Sciences and Disorders course and supervises both undergraduate and graduate student clinicians in their on-campus clinical practicum. She also serves as a field-based liaison, fostering collaboration and support between graduate student clinicians and their field supervisors.
Shannon’s area of focus includes pediatric communication disorders, autism, speech sound disorders, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), and the use of visual supports in therapy.
