James “Michael” Norris is an Instructor of English at Southeastern Louisiana University, where he teaches First-Year Composition, Dual Enrollment, and Corequisite Writing Courses. He emphasizes voice, purpose, and critical thinking, encouraging students to see writing as a means of communication and self-discovery. He holds a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the University of New Orleans and a dual-concentration Bachelor of Arts in English (Literature and Creative Writing) from Louisiana State University. His fiction has appeared online and in print publications including Prometheus Dreaming, Screen Door Review, and Beyond Queer Words, among others. He was a finalist for the Saints and Sinners Fiction Contest and earned an honorable mention in the New Millennium Writing Awards. In addition to his teaching and writing, he regularly hosts Louisiana Words Live, a quarterly reading series that highlights local writers in New Orleans and Baton Rouge.
