Dr. Millie Hizer is an assistant professor of English specializing in Rhetoric and Composition. She earned her PhD in English with a concentration in Rhetoric from Indiana University in 2024, where her dissertation explored accessibility and ableism in higher education. Dr. Hizer also holds an MA in English from Indiana University and a BA in English from the University of Florida. Her research focuses on accessibility, neurodiversity, disability rhetoric, and online composition pedagogy. At Southeastern, she serves as the Graduate Coordinator of Rhetoric and Composition and co-director of the Southeastern Louisiana Writing Project. She is passionate about making higher education more accessible for neurodivergent and disabled students and brings this commitment to both her teaching and scholarship. Dr. Hizer teaches courses in writing, rhetoric, grammar, literature, and composition pedagogy. Her work has been published in various academic journals, and she is currently writing a book on neurodivergent writing practices.
