Mona Jahani

Mona Jahani is an assistant professor in the Department of Visual Art + Design. She received her MFA in Theatrical Design from Michigan State University, where she specialized in theatrical costume design. Her teaching philosophy focuses on process-oriented learning, and courses taught include: Costume Design for Stage for Stage and Studio, Makeup Design for Stage and Studio, and Introduction to the Theatre. Professor Jahani’s previous professional costume design credits include Williamston Theatre (Williamston, MI), the Columbia Center for the Performing Arts (Hammond, LA), University of South Florida (Tampa, FL), and Summer Circle Theatre (East Lansing, MI).

Costume Design, with a focus on character analysis and visual thematic storytelling. Her research also explores the relationship between one’s individual self and the landscape of pop culture, specifically in the realm of wearable art and community.
